My iPod has no audio while car charger is plugged in?
I got a DLO car charger for my iPod Touch. The charger works, but no sound comes out of the headphone jack while the charger is plugged in. As soon as the charger is unplugged, sound comes out normally. Is this normal, or is it just something weird about this particular charger. I’d like to be able to charge and listen at the same time.
Follow up: I returned the DLO charger and got a Griffin. It works much better – allowing charging and listening at the same time. I suspect what David said about pin positions is correct.

Maybe you have the wrong car charger. If you have the iPod TOuch 2nd Gen, it maybe a slightly different charger because while the old one fits, the pin configurations were changed by Apple. I’m going on a car ride to florida, 22 1/2 hours. i would like to listen to it most of the time, but the ipod touch’s battery life isn’t that long. i have a 16 gb touch, and ive found a few battery life extenders that say they work for ipod videos and nanos, but none for the touch, and i dont want to waste my money on something thats not going to work on my ipod touch. i could buy it off of any website or store, or ebay

I’m finding that my cord for my iPod is too short, and I have a USB extender lying around. Is it safe to extend the USB cable for my ipod? Or will it not charge/sync properly?
Extend as you wish, as long as you don’t exceed USB’s cable run length specification of 15 feet. Beyond that point, you may see errors in syncing.
