Use Your Metabolism To Lose Weight And Get You Slim Again
Many people who want to lose weight begin an exercise program and get fixated on the number of calories they are burning making this the exclusive aim of their workouts. They often do long ‘cardio’ type sessions of activities like walking or jogging at a relatively low and even level of intensity.
This is how in the past it was believed it should be done but now research has proven over and over again that this is not the most effective way to lose excess body fat and it is certainly not the way to achieve a strong, lean body.
The way to really lose body fat is to shift the metabolism (the body’s engine) into a higher gear so it is burning more fuel (calories) every minute of the day and night. Making this change to your metabolic engine depends on upgrading your strength and lean muscle tissue while supporting yourself with good nutrition. This regulates your bodies ability to get (and stay) lean and slim.
Giving your fat burning machinery a tune up is really the secret for long term weight loss. If you have allowed your muscle tissue to become un-toned and flabby it will be not as efficient at burning calories as it should be and this is what will be piling up on your tummy, hips and thighs, spoiling your body shape and slowing you down.
When you tone up your muscle tissue it will mean you can burn an extra 100 or so calories each day which may not sound like much but it makes a huge difference over time. A really strong fit person can burn a couple of thousand extra calories more per day than an unfit sedentary person. Your muscles are where fat is burned for energy and that is why their condition is so important.
The quickest way to tone them up and get them working on reducing your body fat levels is with a proper exercise program containing mostly strength training exercise. Just 2-3 sessions each week with the right program will have you burning more calories even when you are resting or sleeping. Over time this is the difference between being overweight or being slim and trim.
The really good thing that comes from all of this is that as you become stronger and fitter you will naturally be more inclined to want to be active and will be able to exert yourself at higher levels. All of which make calorie burning activities a much easier and more appealing proposition and the whole thing becomes easier and faster. It is like a wheel turning and once it gets moving it is easier to keep it going.
Keep in mind though that as your activity levels increase so do your nutritional requirements so it is important to eat small frequent meals with a portion of high quality protein at each one which will speed your fat loss even more. You will shed that excess body fat in no time at all. Perfect!
