Homemade mp3 player case?
I want to make an ipod case with oak or pine wood,and give it some kind of “locks by pushing over,unlocks by pressing down”kind of like a backpack buckle where you push one piece over the other to lock,and squeeze the sides to unlock.I also want it to have an Acrylic cover over the screen(the wood will have an opening in it for the screen,and i need to figure out a way to fix the acrylic to the wood.a few questions:What should i use to cover the central click wheel,what type of wood(pine could absorb the dings better because of softness but oak is harder) and what type of closure should i use?
Cover the click wheel with either a small sliding wood door so you can change songs when you need to, or (if the case is snug enough fit) just a layer of plastic secured on the INSIDE of the case. It’ll create a vulnerable spot, but the thickness of the case should protect it since it’s on the broad flat side. You’ll want to go with pine, as well, absorbtion of dings is your main concern. Line the inside of the case with a soft material as well, to futher cushion the blows it might receive from being dropped or something. The closure you use is up to you, man, I don’t know.l
