Sony W980i Walkman Joins O2 Network – Sony Ericsson W980i
The Sony Ericsson Walkman range has just given birth to a new music orientated mobile phone, the new Sony W980i offers a new and distinct design far more in keeping with a standalone MP3 player than a mobile handset which adds to the attraction of this new, sleek device.
The Sony Ericsson W980i is the newest member of the Walkman family and certainly packs a punch thanks to 8Gb of internal memory, a smart flip design and responsive touch-sensitive keys on the outside, this allows users to easily control their music tracks whilst the phone is in the closed position and raised keys also make using in poor light a lot easier.
The onboard 8GB memory will please many music enthusiasts as this represents far more storage space than some standalone MP3 players allowing them to carry their favourite tracks of up to 8000 with them along with the convenience of a mobile phone.
The Sony W980i also features the innovative shake control; randomly select a song by the flick of your wrist, with Shake control activated, press and hold the Walkman key, then flick your wrist, users can skip forwards and backwards or select another tracks at random. An FM radio transmitter allowing users to play their music through the stereo radio, 3.2 Megapixel camera with video for capturing moments whilst on the move, Bluetooth v2.0, 3G and HSDPA connectivity and up to 20 hours of music playback means the W980 is a force to be reckoned with.
TrackID is a patented technology that is also present in the Sony W980i, it allows the user to simply record a piece of music whilst out and about whether in a club or bar or listening to the radio and find out the artists and track name by sending the clip for recognition – great news if you hear a song you love but cannot find out the name.
PlayNow is another new technology that allows access to over 5 million songs for users to quickly and easily download direct to their phone negating the need to constantly connect with a PC or laptop to uplod new music.
Initially released in a black coloured casing, the Sony W980i is expected to launch in further colour schemes very shortly, as is alwys the case with new Walkman phones – one colour is never enough!
Although curretnly this new music device is only available on O2 further UK network operators will be picking up the phone on their respective networks thus increasing the number of tariffs and deals available to consumers.
