Something To Amplify/Connect My MIcrophone To?

Im looking for something that I can connect my microphone to so I can hear the sound louder and not have to connect it to my computer.

Is this what I need?

The type of microphone has a major effect on the amplifier requirement. Unfortunately, most condenser microphones for computers require a type of phantom power that is incompatible with the 48VDC balanced design used in professional studios; and microphones in general require considerably more gain than a -10dBV line-level source. I therefore consider the VocoPro PV-802, designed for a -10dBV line-level source (e.g., your computer’s Line Out), inadequate for the task.

The Mackie SRM150, which includes two actual microphone preamplifiers (for balanced or unbalanced dynamic microphones, 0-10kΩ source impedance) in addition to a 10kΩ line input for -10dBV sources, I consider better suited to your requirements, provided that the microphone is NOT a computer type condenser.
