Headphones Are Music to Your Ears!
There is nothing worse than buying a portable music or media player and finding out a sub-standard set of headphones came with it! Isn’t it downright frustrating? With headphones being used with everything these days- with TVs, iPods, phones and portable media players, purchasing a reliable set can be a good investment. Naturally, headphones aren’t a substitute for a true theater experience, but you can’t bring an entire system with you wherever you go! So, the next best thing is a solid, versatile set of headphones.
The good news is that with the vast technology available, it is possible to find a set of headphones for whatever device that you may have. That’s great news for you! You’re able to take full advantage of the features offered by your particular electronic device. It’s not that one particular headphone can’t be used amongst several devices. Rather, it simply means that certain headphones are optimized for certain devices, such as your iPod. As such, there are different kinds of headphones available on the market. Some of these include stereo headphones, noise reduction headphones, DJ headphones, wireless headphones, surround sound headphones and earbuds.
Stereo headphones are designed for listening to portable music. They are best for use with your Zune or your iPod. If your mobile phone has a good sound quality on its own with an equalizer and has a 3.5mm audio jack, then you can use stereo headphones for that as well. Noise reduction headphones are those that help minimize or even eliminate background sound altogether. If you are walking down a busy street and you want to listen to some music, then these would be the perfect choice as you would hear nothing but the music. The noise cancellation feature makes noise reduction possible.
DJ headphones are meant for actual DJ’ing, at a club for instance. These are known to give powerful bass and the ear pieces often have a built in swivel mechanism making it possible to listen to them with just one ear. Wireless headphones are on the cutting edge of headphone technology and they are good, basic headphones, but without the cables. They are perfect for gaming or watching a movie. In most cases, these headphones usually have Bluetooth capabilities to aid in their functionality. There is nothing like wireless listening. It gives you the freedom to relax in your favorite chair as you watch a movie without the worries of getting tangled up in cables.
Surround sound headphones are designed to give you surround sound comparable to that of a home theater system. They too are perfect for watching a movie. The surprising thing is that they do manage to deliver on the actual surround sound quality though they are simply headphones.
Finally we have what are termed as earbuds which are the ones most commonly used for portable media devices. They manage to give a decent sound output despite the small size though they lack some of the sound quality of typical headphones. They are portable and compact, easily fit into your pocket and are great for this type of device.
Regardless of the device you need headphones for, you are sure to find a set that’s suitable for just about any application you desire!

Aux in for Pontiac Vibe Stock Stereo Unit?
I have a 2004 Pontiac Vibe base model with the premium monsoon sound package. The sounds not too bad and i dont want to invest in an aftermarket stereo unit so i have two options.
one: fm transmitter. there arent many made for zune and the ones they have arent great, fm transmitters in general arent on the best of terms with me
two: auxillary input. now my stereo console has a button that clearly says AUX and since this is the premium sound package i would assume there are cables for the unit that have auxillary input. Im confused as to why they wouldn’t have a jack in the dash somewhere.
So does the 2004 Vibe have wires in the back for an aux in jack or not? id rather not take the dash panel off again to check unless i can actually install a jack.
It does not. You can however purchase a GM Auxiliary Converter which will give you a true AUX jack.
Not sure why they have the button on the console because it’s completely misleading. The problem has been remedied in the ’09 Vibe/Matrix with a true AUX jack.
Don’t go with the FM transmitter – the sound quality is horrible. Regardless of brand name, they’re all terrible.
