Smart phones are the fads in the mobile phone industry, with a considerable upsurge in their demand. These smart devices are capable of performing almost everything. From entertainment to the utility, from sending mails to listening music, they can do it all. A Smart phone generally features connectivity options like WAP browser support, WiFi support, e-mail support, and 2G or 3G network services. For entertainment it features a digital camera, music player, video player, and games. These mobile phones possess more or less PC like functionality, and they too work on a operating system and a processor. Microsoft recently launched Windows Mobile 7, a smart phone operating system that promises to offer a good user interface and advanced functional prospects.
Microsoft launched Windows Mobile 7 in response to the rival Google’s operating system “Android” which was launched earlier this year. Considering the fact that smart phones are the taste of the season, and are selling like hot cakes, launch of Windows Mobile 7 gives the consumers another good option. This OS is seen as the successor of the Microsoft’s earlier launch win mobile 6.5. For the first time other Microsoft services such as Zune media service and Xbox LIVE gaming environment are integrated into this operating system.
While the Xbox fantasizes the gaming addicts, the popular Zune media services synchronizes the music and video files much to the likes of music buffs. Another new software application, “Live Tiles” – a virtual post-its for the Mobile Phone has been introduced. This application contains shortcuts for favorite apps or Web sites in the form of large, colorful tiles on the home screen. “Live” here means that they are working in real time environment, so if the content of the app or site is updated, the tile will be automatically updated on your screen.
“Hubs” as the Microsoft says, is a an application, which combines the content of six themes namely people, pictures, games , marketplace, music and office. The software Giant has further locked the Windows Mobile 7 User interface, thereby restricting the hardware platforms to its partners including Dell, HTC, Garmin ASUS, LG, Samsung, SE, Toshiba, HP and Qualcomm. However it is not a completely closed ended application, as it offers the Flash ( Adobe hallmark application) integration which is an integral part of almost 80 percent of the web pages today. Windows mobile 7 phones will be available with three hardware buttons including Home- to quickly guide you through the menu items, Search- for searching internet and the device, and Back- to exit the current screen or application.
