Wh does the date and time on my iPod Touch reset it’s self on its own?

I turn it off then when I go to turn it back on the date is months and days off. The time is either hours ahead or behind. I’ve called Apple and the dude told me that that was new to him and that Apple couldn’t help me and to just reset the time and date when i happens.
